Psychoanalytic Training InstituteThe Adult Psychoanalysis Program welcomes licensed or soon-to-be licensed applicants, 25 years and older, with a Master’s or higher degree in Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, or Psychiatric Nursing, as well as those with Master’s Degrees in other clinical disciplines, such as Creative Arts Therapy and Counseling. Professionals with graduate degrees in fields that enrich psychoanalysis, such as education, philosophy, sociology, and the humanities can also apply and qualify for New York State licensure in psychoanalysis through our training program. Applicants with previous psychoanalytic training at other IPA Institutes may inquire about obtaining advanced status. The Admissions Committee will evaluate each case based on prior experience, comparability of previous training, and the Institute’s standards.
Our training year begins in January. We accept applications on a rolling basis until October. We invite you to learn more about our program by attending an open house on one of the following dates:

To register for an open house, click here. Our open houses are held in person, near Union Square, but for those unable to attend, we can facilitate Zoom participation. In addition, professionals with graduate degrees in fields that enrich psychoanalysis, such as education, philosophy, sociology, and the humanities are encouraged to apply.
