Pasquale De Blasi, Jr., PhD


Pasquale De Blasi, Jr., Ph.D., is a psychoanalyst in private practice of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy of adults and adolescents, and clinical supervision on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NY. He is a faculty member, Psychoanalytic Fellowship Program Supervisor and a graduate of the New York Psychoanalytic Institute’s Adolescent Psychoanalysis Program. He is a Graduate, Training and Supervising Analyst of the Psychoanalytic Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society (formerly the New York Freudian Society); a Fellow, Training and Supervising Analyst of the International Psychoanalytical Association; and a Graduate of the National Psychoanalytic Association for Psychoanalysis Training Institute. He holds faculty appointments with the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor as well as psychotherapy Educational Consultant (EC) in the Department of Psychiatry, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Environmental Medicine & Public Health, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is a Visiting Professor, Wuhan Mental Health Center, Tongji Medical College, Wuhan, China. He is a member of the Academy of Child Psychoanalysis, the American Psychoanalytic Association and the Faculty Psychotherapy Conference, Department of Psychiatry, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He was a past member, (by invitation) of the Ernst Kris Study Group, moderated by Charles Brenner, MD, 2001-2008.He was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese American Psychoanalytic Alliance, a member of its faculty wherein he conducted long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy with CAPA candidates and Chinese adolescents, taught adolescent theory and technique as well as supervision. He has completed a clinical externship in the Early Childhood Program, Bernard L. Pacella Parent Child Center, New York Psychoanalytic Institute, 1998-1999. He conducted clinical supervision of interns/externs at the Mt. Sinai Hospital Adolescent Health Center, 2010-2012. He was Clinical Consultant to Bard College Counseling Service, 1990-2002, and the Louis August Jonas Foundation’s Camp Rising Sun (an international scholarship camp for teenagers), 1993-2000. As an Adjunct Staff Member/Allied Health Professional in the Internal Medicine Service of Northern Dutchess Hospital, he held Level II clinical privileges in psychology with a subspecialty in psychiatry which included: psychiatric diagnostic assessment, evaluation and consultation, 1989-2010. Earlier clinical training included in-patient internships at Creedmoor State Hospital, 1971-72, and Hillside Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, 1972-1973. He was awarded his Ph.D. degree by Columbia University, 1985.
